Our Cayman Islands office services US and international cedants in the property, casualty, financial risks, and agriculture classes. Our key areas of focus include General Liability, Workers Compensation, Mortgage, Specialty Credit & Surety, Transactional Liability, and North American Crop. We also consider Property Cat on a selective basis.
IRELAND
In the London and European market, our focus is primarily on specialty classes including marine and energy, satellite, aviation, terrorism and political risk.

CASUALTY
We write a diverse range of liability sub-classes on a quota share and excess of loss basis (both working and catastrophe layers). Our primary target is a short-to-medium loss reporting tail, but we are willing to consider long-tail.
We work to establish long term reinsurance relationships with casualty clients and are committed to understanding their business and providing collaborative capital support.
WORKERS' COMPENSATION
Workers’ Compensation is written on a stand-alone basis or packaged with other main-street and industrial commercial insurance lines. We provide lead or following lines with a broad appetite from low hazard to more difficult and specialized class codes.

We actively support innovative companies that look to disrupt the insurance market by providing better products to customers using data and technology. Our appetite includes a wide range of classes of business through both quota share and excess of loss reinsurance.

WHOLE ACCOUNT & FUNDS AT LLOYD'S
We provide Funds at Lloyd’s capacity to a number of Lloyd’s syndicates through a dedicated corporate member. We aim to build long-term strategic partnerships, generally supporting our Lloyd’s partners’ outward reinsurance programs.
We also consider whole-account covers on a quota share and excess of loss basis for specific cedants.
AGRICULTURE
We write a global portfolio of agriculture treaty business comprising quota share, excess of loss and stop loss business. We cover traditional agriculture insurance in a follow-line capacity.

Jim Ehman
Head of Casualty Underwriting - Cayman Islands
Jim Ehman joined Greenlight Re in January 2011 as a seasoned underwriter of structured and specialty treaty reinsurance. He previously underwrote U.S treaty reinsurance for ten years with a large international reinsurance company and several years prior with a Barbados based reinsurer, entering the industry in 2006 as CFO of the Barbados reinsurer. Jim achieved his Chartered Accountant designation while working with Coopers & Lybrand in Canada, then continued in public practice with Deloitte & Touche in Barbados. He received his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan, the province where Jim grew up on his family’s grain farm.
Kagabo Ngiruwonsanga
Chief Underwriting Officer - Innovations
Kagabo Ngiruwonsanga serves as our Head of Innovations Underwriting, prior to that he was the Head of Pricing and Analytics from 2018 – 2022. He joined Greenlight Re in 2011 as an Actuary in the underwriting team. Kagabo has over 20 years of property and casualty insurance experience and is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society. Prior to joining Greenlight Re, Kagabo was an Actuary at Liberty Mutual Insurance company where he worked on pricing reinsurance treaties as well as personal lines products. Before that, Kagabo worked at Metlife Auto and Home where he was involved in the modelling of the catastrophe book as well as pricing home and auto insurance. Kagabo holds a B.A. in Economics from Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota

Chief Underwriting Officer - Cayman Islands
Regan Cairns joined Greenlight Re in 2018. Prior to joining Greenlight Re, she spent several years focusing on the audit of captive insurance and reinsurance entities, as well as valuation of private equity/debt investments at KPMG in the Cayman Islands. Before that, Regan worked in the U.S. corporate tax practice at Deloitte in Toronto, Canada. Regan graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada. She holds the CPA and CA designations through the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada and is a CFA Charterholder.

Barry Griffin
Chief Underwriting Officer - Ireland
Barry joined Greenlight Re as an underwriter in 2018 in the Ireland office with a focus on London Market Specialty markets. Prior to joining, he was a specialty underwriter at Travelers in their Lloyd’s syndicate. After graduating from university, he joined Markel (London) as an underwriter focused on specialty lines of business. Barry has in-depth knowledge of the London (re)insurance market. He holds an Actuarial and Financial studies degree from University College Dublin.
